carpal tunnel syndrome

I recall from medical school days that we were given the impression that carpal tunnel syndrome is caused from narrowing of the carpal tunnel and the only treatment option for carpal tunnel syndrome is surgical decompression. Of course, the “narrowing” can be caused by many different conditions (see below). It’s pretty customary these days that we need to explore the aetiology of the CTS with an ultrasound. Clarification of the anatomy may open up the option of injections to relieve symptoms.
